Leading Spine Experts to Highlight 2024 Spine Summit Contributions

Faculty members from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine made a strong showing at the 2024 Spine Summit, with 21 individuals from the school’s ranks—including faculty, fellows, students, and research staff—actively contributing to the program with presentations and discussions that covered the latest in minimally invasive spine surgery and treatment advancements. This annual premier event is recognized as a significant educational platform for surgeons and health professionals specializing in spine and peripheral nerve surgery and has a wide-reaching influence in both the United States and Canada.

The summit, held in a prime location, attracted many of the leading names in spine surgery who convened to exchange peer-reviewed knowledge and clinical experiences. It was an opportunity for the medical community to understand emerging research findings and surgical techniques. Allan Levi, M.D., Ph.D., Professor and Chair of Neurological Surgery at the Miller School, highlighted the importance of this gathering for neurosurgeons and other professionals in the field. Dr. Levi also shared insights from his practical experience with pars repair in athletes—a technique that represents the shift toward non-intrusive surgical interventions.

Along similar lines, Michael Wang, M.D., Professor of Neurological Surgery and Chief of Service and Medical Director of the Miller School’s Minimally Invasive Spine Program, had extensive participation with an impressive tally of 36 presentations.
