Survivor of Arena Bombing Commemorates Spinal Injury Advocacy Group

In a significant fundraising event in Manchester, Martin Hibbert, a survivor of the Manchester Arena bombing, contributed as a host, emphasizing the role of a charity that supported him through his rehabilitation. Mr. Hibbert, an alumnus of Turton School, was gravely injured during the terrorist attack on May 22, when Salman Abedi detonated an explosive device, resulting in 23 fatalities and numerous injuries. Since the incident, he has been left paralyzed from the waist down.

The charity, dedicated to aiding individuals with spinal cord injuries, was crucial in aiding Mr. Hibbert’s recovery. During the event, Mr. Hibbert expressed gratitude to the charity: “The support from Manchester and the North West has been indispensable to the charity’s work,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of local generosity. He also highlighted that the charity’s efforts were pivotal for his survival and continued existence.

The annual event assembled supporters from the care and legal sectors of the North West with the aim of gathering funds to sustain the essential services provided by the organization. The importance of community solidarity was echoed by Mr. Hibbert, who serves as Vice President of the charity, in his emotional address wherein he praised the spirit of Manchester as his favorite city.
