A 28-year-old woman has been left paralyzed from the waist down after a piano she and a friend were moving tipped over and crushed her. Danielle Drummond, a recent transplant from Ohio to the Beaver State, experienced a life-altering injury when the heavy instrument fell, causing severe damage to her spinal cord.
Upon being taken to the hospital, emergency surgery revealed that the fall had severed Drummond’s spinal cord. She now faces a difficult road to recovery, including extensive rehabilitation and the requirement of a home health aide. The added challenge for Drummond is that she had been living in her van with her dog Lotus and has no family in Oregon to assist her post-accident.
Drummond’s return to her hometown of Cleveland seems unfeasible due to her critical condition, which makes significant travel unmanageable. She has spoken about the harsh reality of accepting her new life, emphasizing her determination to maintain high spirits despite the hardship. However, she acknowledged the pressing need for medical support and physical therapy to regain her strength.
In a heartfelt display of sisterly support, Rosie Hayne, Drummond’s elder sister, initiated a GoFundMe campaign aimed to help Drummond secure a stable place to live and cover her medical expenses. Hayne expressed deep sorrow over the situation and described her sister as a strong, wise, and down-to-earth individual with a beautiful soul.
