Cyclist Sustains Spine Fracture and Brain Injury in San Diego SUV Hit-and-Run Incident

In San Diego, a 60-year-old woman was left with life-threatening injuries following a hit-and-run incident while she was cycling on her mountain bike. The accident took place on Sunday morning around 8:40 a.m. on Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard in the Rancho Penasquitos neighborhood.

The San Diego Police Department is currently on the lookout for the perpetrator, who was last seen driving a silver or charcoal gray mid-sized SUV. Witnesses reported that the SUV was heading in the same direction as the cyclist when it unexpectedly swerved to the right, hitting the cyclist before immediately fleeing the scene.

Medical reports from local authorities indicate that the woman sustained critical injuries from the impact. She was quickly transported to the hospital and underwent surgery due to significant brain bleeding and a spinal fracture. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, and law enforcement officials urge anyone with information to come forward.

As the search continues for the driver responsible for the hit-and-run, local officials highlight the importance of road safety and the community’s role in providing information that could lead to an arrest. This collision has once again raised concerns about cyclist safety on roadways and the grim repercussions of hit-and-run accidents in the area.
